Good Oral Hygiene also Good for the Heart

Posted 11 years ago

Your dentist told you that brushing your teeth can protect them from cavities and gum diseases, but has he ever told you that it can also be good for your heart?

A study on 11,000 adults conducted by researchers from University College London shows that those with the worst oral hygiene had the highest likelihood of experiencing cardiovascular problems.
When the teeth are not brushed regularly the mouth can quickly become infected with bacteria. These bacteria can cause inflammation which in turn leads to clogged arteries, a major contributor to heart attacks and cardiovascular disease.
