My mother had a heart attack when she was 55. Both of her brothers (my uncles) have had bypass operations. I was at my Uncle Ray’s house, having dinner, when the topic of conversation got around to health. I told my uncle, “I sure hope I haven’t inherited your heart problems.” Uncle Ray got very serious, looked me straight in my eyes and said, “Maybe you will take better care of your heart than I did.”
That got me to thinking. So I jumped into the medical literature and read everything I could find. Of course I found the usual things about losing weight, eating right, and exercising.
