Former president George W. Bush underwent a surgery that involved placing a stent in his coronary artery. That might sound like a complicated and difficult procedure but doctors say that it has become common now to the point where it is just routine. The procedure has actually been performed millions of times in hospitals around the U.S. It does not even involve staying for long in the hospital.
According to Geoffrey Mohan for The Los Angeles Times, “Generally, placing a stent can take as little as an hour and involve only a minor puncture in the groin area, although increasingly the entry point is the wrist .”
