Beetroot for Heart Health

If you want to improve your heart health then you better start eating beetroot. Researchers at the University of Reading have discovered that bread with some beetroot added to it can actually improve the heart health of those eating it. It can lower blood pressure and affect positively on the function of blood vessels. It has many benefits to the rest of the body as well.

According to an article that appeared on CanadianManufacturing.com, “The researchers say that when dietary nitrate is eaten it produces nitric oxide in the blood vessel wall, which causes relaxation of the vessel and increased blood flow.”

Nitrate is a dietary component found naturally in beetroot and is responsible for the lowering of blood pressure. It can also be found in other vegetables.
