Too much of a good thing can turn it into a bad thing. And if you’ve just gotten on the fitness bandwagon, or even if you have been making regular exercise a part of your routine, you may want to read this.
Exercise, too much of it rather, may be bad for your heart. This was studied by a group of researchers onĀ 23 sedentary men and 50 male marathon runners recruited from the Twin Cities Marathon. The study was published in the journal Missouri Medicine.
In an article found on Twin Cities Local News, it was said that: “The results show the runners “paradoxically” had greater volume of coronary plaque. That condition narrows the vessels leading to the heart, which can result in a heart attack.”
Although it is not yet thoroughly proven, this indicates that metabolic changes caused by running, and possibly by other high intensity activities, could be bad for the cardiovascular system.
