A 21-year-old fit and healthy young man died because of an undiagnosed and deadly heart condition.
Callum Branche, a carer, had a work-hard, play-hard attitude and he enjoyed regular football games with his friends. He enjoyed both life and work so much that he didn’t realize he had the potentially fatal heart condition called coronary artery anomaly.
The condition means that blood is fed into the heart from the aorta, the main artery, from only one side. The condition could be aggravated by exercise as the affected artery could be squashed under the pressure of more blood pumped to the heart.
He was found dead by his parents at his family’s home. Family described Callum as a gentle giant with an infectious smile and had no history of poor health.
