IBM to Predict Heart Disease Long Before It Strikes

IBM thinks that big data could predict heart disease long before doctors can. IBM, together with Sutter Health and Geisinger Health Systems, received a $2 million grant in order to use big data analytics to predict the signs of heart disease earlier.

The research started in 2009 and it will search patients’ electronic health cards, medical history, and medication in order to find common signs of heart disease.

According to IBM, its findings may also be extended to other diseases.
